Pupcakes The Perfect Dog Cupcake Recipes

Everyone loves cupcakes even dogs. So why not bake up a few of these wonderful treats tonight using ingredients that you have in your own pantry. Peamut Butter Pupcakes Ingredients: 2 ripe bananas 2 cups water 1 egg 3 cups whole wheat flour 1 Tbsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 2 Tbsp honey 1/2 cup peanut butter Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F). Spray cupcakes or mini cupcake pans depending on the size of your dog. Larger cupcake pans for larger dogs smaller pans for smaller dogs. In a large bowl, mash bananas with a fork. Add all ingredients but peanut butter and and mix with a wodden spoon until well combined. Add peanut butter and continue stirring until well blended. If using mini cupcake pan, spoon 2 Tbsp (or 1/8 cup) batter into each. If using regular cupcake pan, fill each well 1/4 of the way full. The batter will not rise or smooth out very much, so be sure to smooth it out and make it pretty. Bake mini pupcakes for 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Bake larger pupcakes for 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Allow to cool for 3-5 minutes in pan before inverting onto cooling rack. Allow pupcakes to cool completely before feeding them to your dog. Store in the refrigerator covered. Perfect Puppy Frosting Ingredients: 8 ounces of Greek yogurt 1 cup confectioners sugar 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/4 dog food ( dry kibble) for decoration AKA sprinkles Directions: Mix together the Greek yogurt and the confectionery sugar with a hand blender. Slowly add the peanut butter and whip till light and fluffy. Greek yogurt has much less liquid then regular yogurt producing a stiffer frosting. This frosting needs to be refrigerated. If you dog is sensitive to dairy you can omit the yogurt all together and just use the peanut butter and confectionery sugar whipped together. Spoon dollops on to each cupcake and sprinkle with dry kibble. For that added touch you can put a rawhide on each cupcake to look like a candle or put a dog bone on each one for added decoration. Have fun with this recipe. It is so good you may even want to eat it yourself. Remember that dogs do not need a lot of sweets so feed your dog his pupcakes in moderation.

Free Dog Treat Recipes That Are Easy

Making your own dog treats at home can be fun and save you money. Homemade dog treats are better for your dog. They don't contain any filler or chemicals and you can control what goes in them. You'll never have to worry about another pet treat re-call when you make your own treats. Here are a few simple recipes with items you already have at home.

Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1/2 cup powdered milk 1 tablespoon wheat germ 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup ice water

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a medium bowl, stir together the whole wheat flour, powdered milk, wheat germ, and peanut butter. Add ice water 1 tablespoon at a time until dough is wet enough to stick together. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut with cookie cutters. Place biscuits 1 inch apart onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until firm. Cool before serving.

Some Great variation of this include adding 1/2 tsp of cinnamon adding 1/2 cup of oatmeal and 1 tsp honey and increasing the water to 3/4 of a cup

Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Treats Ingredients

1 egg 1/3 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup mashed banana 1 tablespoon honey 1 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 cup wheat germ

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet. Stir together the egg, peanut butter, banana, and honey in a medium bowl; blend thoroughly. Stir in the flour and wheat germ; mix well. Turn dough out onto a floured board and roll to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes with a cookie cutter, place on prepared baking sheet. Bake biscuits in preheated oven until dried and golden brown, about 30 minutes, depending on size. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.

The best thing about homemade dog treats is that you can cut them in to any shape using cookie cutter that you have at home or you can just slice them into random shapes. Although you should limit the amount of sugar you give your dog it is okay for them to have a little. So go ahead and decorate these treats with icing for your next puppy party or save money and give them to your friends as gifts for their dog instead of a store bought gift.

organic dog treats

So why would people want to buy homemade dog treats when they can get loads of pre-made box ones from their local supermarket? The same reason you'd prefer to bake your own cookies at home for your kids - store-bought dog treats can be filled with lots of empty carbs and chemicals that might eventually cause your dog more harm than good. Making these treats less of a reward then you would want them to be. People who buy Home Made Dog Treats are likely to be serious pet owners looking for hygienic, healthy, nutritious treats for their pets.
Homemade treats fall under strict guidelines AAFCO and are much safer for your pet then commercial ones. Many large companies use filler and bi products in their food to keep cost down. With the mounting number of pet food and treat recalls out there every day it is much safer to buy homemade pet cookies. Most companies that sell homemade dog treats offer a great variety of customization. You can choose flavors and let them know of allergies that your dog may have. Many of the treats can be tailored to the season and even have your pooches name on the treat itself. What a great treat for your pet.
Since these healthy dog treats are made with human grade products they cause less problems for your dog then store bought ones. They are healthier and because they have less filler they make your pet fuller faster helping in keeping your dog lean. With less filler and better grain your dog absorbs more of the nutrients in the treats then he would in the store bought mass-produced treats. These treats are better for your pooch and can lead to longer healthier lives with less health complications. The added chemicals in store bought treats can lead to skin irritations and allergies that will make you and your dog very uncomfortable.
Store bought does have one benefit that homemade doesn't have: they can easily be purchased, prepackaged and ready to serve to your pet. But would you really want to feed them something like that when you can buy homemade dog treats for your dog from great places on line or even at your local bakery. There are many things to consider and your dog's health is one of them. Your best friend deserves the best you can afford so buy him the best you can. Buy homemade for a healthier life.

The BIG "C" cancer in Dogs

Cancer affects one in three dog, perhaps you life has already been effected by this horrible and painful disease. Cancer is the leading cause of death in dogs over ten. Thankful about half of the cancers are curable if they are caught early enough. The warning signs of cancer in dogs are very similar to that in people. A lump or a bump, a wound that doesn't heal, any kind of swelling, enlarged lymph nodes, a lameness or swelling in the bone, abnormal bleeding. Those are all classic signs. But sometimes there are little or no signs, at least early on. So any time an animal isn't feeling well, or there's something abnormal or not quite right especially if the animal stops eating or loses a lot of weight, the owner needs to bring it to the attention of their veterinarian.

After the dog is diagnosed with cancer the owner will most likely have to decide what to do. Chemotherapy and radiation treatments are the most common types of treatment. Some cancer can be remedied by surgery. It depends on the type of cancer and the area affected.

The biggest thing to preventing cancer in the first place is spaying your dog. If you spay a dog before its first heat you'll reduce the chance of mammary cancer eight-fold, just because of the hormonal influence. Good oral care can also help decrease and even prevent oral cancers. And if you're buying a purebred dog, check its line to see if there's a specific kind of cancer in that breed's line. Since pure breed dogs have a greater chance for cancer then mixed breed dogs

. The FDA has also approved a tumor vaccine to prevent the most common oral tumors. But there are a few things that you can do to add in the treatment. Not only do these herbs help decrease the cancer but they minimize the side effects of the chemotherapy for less nausea, more energy and faster recovery. The herbs which is most commonly used include; Chamomile, St Mary's Thistle, Alfalfa, Rosehips, Thuja, Parsley, Fennel, Blue Flag, Ginger and Liquroice. Although not proven I have had great results with essiac tea and wheat grass as a helper extending the life of my dog but these are not proven treatments. There are a few herbs that can be added to your dogs diet now to prevent cancer all together, milk thistle helps prevent liver cancer, Echinacea and cats paw both are great to boost the immune system. Cancer is a very serious disease. The information provided here is intended for educational use and is not intended to substitute for the advice of a professional.
